I seem to have these on a regular basis. Whether it is when I am out, or working, there are times when I am still and will have a moment where I question if it is really what I want.
I spoke about this with my growth coach, Josephine Opie, just recently and she admitted that most people have these moments which will define their lives as they move into the future.
My moment this month was whether I am really working on what I want. I have been trying to finish my novel for a year now and, well work seems to get int the way! It's something I want to do and would like to work on in the future. Yet, here I am again, thinking it has been a year since I started my work and yet it's still not quite there.
Mind you, after a friend reviewed my eighth draft, it made me realise that an author must write, rewrite, edit and rewrite several times. Listening to other authors who have finally made it, they have suggested they wrote several novels before they found the winning ingredient. This made me fell, well, a little better.
So, getting back to my coach, Josephine. I have had coaches over the years who have supported my business growth, a change in direction of careers and personal growth. Each person was either a mentor or a paid coach and yet they supported my moments of insecurity when I wasn't sure about where I really wanted to be or what I wanted to be doing.
Anyone who knows me will say that I have had a varied career until I found my passion, writing. I could say that only two people have really known me well during this time and guided my career direction. One of these is a lovely friend from my AIPM days and now Jo, who became my coach by default. We are friends and yet I have found her encouragement and direction have made me realise that a coach is necessary in all aspects and stages of your life. This was my Aha moment.
